Lightning protection materials & LPS components

A lightning-protection package is more than an air terminal. External capture and down-conductor arrangements, earthing, equipotential bonding and internal surge protection must be coordinated with the project design and risk assessment. PrimeEarth Solutions reviews material enquiries for these components against the BOQ and specified system requirements.

Components that may be included

  • Air terminals and specified mounting accessories
  • Down conductors, clips, fasteners and route-support components
  • Test links, inspection points and compatible connection hardware
  • Earthing electrodes, conductors, chambers and bonding components
  • Surge-protection devices (SPDs) for the specified circuits and equipment interfaces

External and internal protection are different scopes

External lightning protection addresses strike attachment and a controlled path to earth. Internal protection includes equipotential bonding, routing considerations and surge-protection coordination. A product list should identify which of these scopes is included and what the project designer has specified.

Air-terminal placement, conductor routing, separation distances, electrode arrangements and SPD selection should not be guessed from building height alone. Design and installation should follow the project risk assessment and applicable editions of the relevant standards.

Make the RFQ technically comparable

Include the project type and location, approved drawing or BOQ, specified LPS class or design criteria where stated, conductor material and size, mounting arrangement, SPD type/rating requirements, quantities, documentation and delivery date. If a design decision remains open, list it as a clarification rather than silently substituting a component.

Project procurement support

PrimeEarth Solutions welcomes enquiries from solar EPCs, industrial facilities, electrical contractors and project consultants. Supply scope, product documents and delivery estimates are confirmed against the actual requirements; execution or testing scope is handled separately where applicable.

Frequently asked questions

Does every building require the same lightning protection?

No. The design depends on the structure, risk assessment, site and applicable standards; a universal arrangement should not be assumed.

Are SPDs the same as an external lightning protection system?

No. SPDs protect specified electrical circuits/equipment from transient overvoltages and are coordinated with the overall protection design; they do not replace every external LPS component.

What should I send to get a quote?

Send the BOQ or drawing, component specifications, quantities, site location and delivery deadline. Include SPD requirements if those are part of the scope.
